Mac Helmsworth

Mac Helmsworth is a resilient problem solver with over 8 years of experience in the United States Army’s Special Operations Community. His knowledge, critical thinking and excellent communication skills are developed through research, preparation and applying past experiences. His tenacity and hard work ethic motivate him to face a negative and turn it into an opportunity for success.

Prior to joining the Army Mac excelled as a baseball player in high school and had plans to play division one baseball until an injury his junior year brought recruiting interest to a standstill. Giving up on a lifelong dream to play college baseball was never an option for Mac and he took matters into his own hands. He reached out to every Junior College coach in Florida to find an opportunity to showcase his ability. Eventually, he got a chance to walk-on at St. Johns River State College started every game his freshman year and earned a scholarship for his sophomore year.

Mac’s baseball dream had ended but a new passion emerged, and that was to serve his country at the highest level. After graduating from the University of North Florida’s Exercise Physiology program, he enlisted in the Army to become a Green Beret. After nearly three years of selection, assessment, and training Mac earned the title of Green Beret and reported to 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell Kentucky. During his time at 5th Special Forces group he excelled as a leader right away taking on the responsibility of ensuring seamless IT functionality of his 12-man team. Mac streamlined his team’s communication SOP’s and successfully managed a client portfolio valued at $20 million, where he achieved zero loss and consistently enhanced client satisfaction. Mac’s time in Special Forces sparked a passion for technology. He constantly learned new military technology and advised organizations around the world how to leverage those tools to drive success and increase productivity.

Mac is now interning at Cisco as a part of the Military in Sales and Leadership program where he is shadowing an enterprise account manager in the service provider segment. He is motivated to apply the skills and lessons learned from sports and the military to pursue excellence every day in sales. Mac is eager to join an organization where he can continue to learn every day, solve important problems, and be a part of a winning team.
