Ian Murray

Ian Murray is a remarkable candidate, bringing a diverse background that seamlessly integrates academic achievement, athletic excellence, and military leadership. A proud alumnus of the College of the Holy Cross, Ian navigated the challenges of playing Division 1 football while participating in the ROTC program. His college days were characterized by a demanding schedule of ROTC workouts, intensive training, classes, football commitments, and the added responsibility of navy ROTC lectures and courses.

Before college, Ian honed his competitive spirit in three sports – football, basketball, and lacrosse – consistently pushing himself to excel. While his twin pursued lacrosse at the University of Pennsylvania, Ian continued his athletic and academic pursuits at Holy Cross.

Upon graduating in May 2020, Ian transitioned into the Navy, becoming a Surface Warfare Officer on the USS Essex, an amphibious assault ship. Over the next 3.5 years, he ascended through the ranks, leading a team of 33 personnel to oversee the entire engineering department, including maintenance and material management, for 300 enlisted personnel by the time he left. Navigating deployments to the Middle East and South China Sea, Ian served as the ship’s go-to ship handler, steering the vessel through intense weather and high-pressure situations. His exceptional service was recognized with a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

In September, Ian separated from the Navy, seeking new opportunities in the dynamic realm of tech sales. Now, as he pivots towards a career as a Business Development Representative, Ian brings a wealth of experience, resilience, and leadership honed in the military to contribute to the vibrant world of technology sales. His journey underscores his ability to thrive in high-pressure environments, collaborate seamlessly with diverse teams, and exhibit the discipline and determination essential in both Division 1 football and military service.
